English - ENG1D -Grade 9 - Academic

This course emphasizes the analytical reading, writing, oral communication, and thinking skills that students need for success in secondary school academic programs and in their daily lives. Students will study and interpret texts from contemporary and historical periods, including short stories, poems, and short essays, and will investigate and create media works. An important focus will be the correct and effective use of spoken and written language.

On page 126 to 141 of the Canadian Writer’s Handbook, the students can add to their notes any pairings of words that we did not include in our original “Confused Words” list.
2) Next, read .142-143, then choose the 15 most difficult words (in your opinion) from the list on p.144-147. Be prepared to discuss your reasons.
3) Read p.148-153. Take notes as necessary for future activities involving this information.
